Happy Friday folks! There are exactly four weeks of the school year to go. This is your FINAL art assignment of the 2019/2020 school year. Many of you have discovered the joy of using my Wednesday "Office Hours" like class time. Students using that time found they worked more quickly, were able to focus, and got real-time feedback and assistance. If this time slot is not possible for you, but you would like to join a socially distanced class environment, please let me know! I will set up alternate time slots if there is a demand. :-) Here is your final assignment, Please remember, the focus of this particular assignment is to demonstrate learning from materials covered over the school year. So be sure to think about your light source, create highlights and shadows, add texture, have a background, etc. g9_final_project.pdf Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Good luck with this, and have fun! Mrs. Cruikshank Wednesday, May 6, 2020
Happy Wednesday! Our last two assignments have focused on practicing and building basic skills in line art. This week's assignment asks you to apply your learning to an art piece. Notes for success: - Use light pencil lines to block out your drawing before committing to ink. - Sketching some rough ideas ahead will help your final piece come together more easily. - Don't over complicate! Keep in mind what the assessable parts are and focus on showing your learning in those areas. Your assignment: g9_line_art.pdf DUE DATE: FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2020 Friday April 24th, 2020
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!! I hope you are all well and finding ways to navigate your new education world. Here is assignment #3: pen_and_ink_ws_g92020.pdf Here are some example patterns which I did that might help: mrs._cruikshanks_pen_and_ink_examples.pdf Don't worry if you can't print the worksheet, you can create your own grids on a separate piece of paper if that is easier. Just make sure you do all the exercises in the assignment! DUE DATE: FRIDAY MAY 1, 2020 April 17, 2020
Assignment #2 Happy Friday Peeps! I hope things are coming together, and that you are figuring things out okay. Your next assignment is in ink drawing. Now, do not worry if you do not have fancy drawing pens or liquid ink. For our purposes, any kind of pen or pencil will do, as long as you are able to demonstrate practice, following the task in the video link below (Gosh, I love YouTube!) This video demonstrates 6 ink techniques, but you only need to worry about 5! You absolutely do not need to worry about the liquid ink wash technique, though please feel free to try if you have the medium available. You also do not need to draw anything as complex as the skull the artist uses for her demonstration. By all means, use simpler shapes, eg, hearts, circles, flowers, squares. The assessable part of this is the learning and application of techniques. https://www.google.com/search?q=pen+and+ink+techniques&rlz=1C1GGRV_enCA751CA751&oq=pen+and+ink+techniques&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3j46j0l3.6575j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_JiOaXoPLIpjn-gSKipzgCg127 DUE DATE: FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2020 Please let me know if you HAve any questions about this! Take care, Mrs. Cruikshank April 7, 2020
Hello Block A Grade 9s! Oh how I miss our classes! This is a very different time we find ourselves in, and I'm learning and adjusting as best I can. I know that we had discussed a few different possibilities for term 3 material. At this point in time, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to teach units I would usually be quite hands on with. Please be patient. For now, here is a project that will allow me to at least assess the success and downsides of teaching art using our existing means of distance ed. mandala.pdf I have left the medium open to your choice as I don't want to put any pressure on you to find/buy media you don't already have at home. Please make sure you read all the instructions before beginning, or you might find you miss an opportunity for some real thinking outside the box. Do your best. And, as always, I am only an email away. We can also arrange Zoom or Skype time if anyone needs more direct assistance. Take care all, Mrs. C. Happy Monday, Block A!
I hope you are all well and staying healthy at home. This has been a strange and stressful time for everyone. Hopefully, continuing with art will add a little relaxation and joy to your day. YOU"VE GOT THIS!! I want to ensure that past work is honored. You were asked to complete your character designs over spring break, in order to submit during the first week back. Your first assignment, therefore, is to scan or photograph your work, and submit to Google Classroom. Here is a link to the video by Aaron Blaise we watched in class. Don't forget, your prep work should include studies of the creature/real life person you are characterizing. Designs come after that. www.cartoonbrew.com/sponsored-by-aaron-blaise/aaron-blaise-reveals-seven-steps-great-character-design-149504.html Here, again, is a copy of the assignment: character_design_g9.pdf Stay safe, guys. Stay healthy. Don't let this stress you out - most of the work on this is already done. If you are stuck, or have any issues, PLEASE do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I'm here to support you as much as possible! Let's chat early next week. I will send out details of out next assignment next Monday morning. Take care all, Mrs. C. ArchivesNo Archives Categories |
